Welcome to the Nature Coast

Crystal River is located in Citrus County Florida, one of the quietly tucked away jewels on the Gulf Coast of Mexico. In fact, this stretch of the Florida west coast is called the “Nature Coast” because of its pristine surroundings.

The many natural springs that flow into King’s Bay in Crystal River, Florida maintains a constant water temperature of 72 degrees. These warm waters act as a haven for the endangered Florida manatees in the winter months. During this time of year the Manatee migrate from the Gulf of Mexico up into King’s Bay and the Crystal River, portions of which have been designated wildlife sanctuaries.

There are many professional manatee tour companies set up around King’s Bay offering guided dive and snorkel tours with the manatee. This is the only place in the world that you can actually swim with the manatee.

Sportsman’s Paradise

Do you like to boat and fish? Who doesn’t! Crystal River and the surrounding Gulf of Mexico offer some of the best boating and fishing around.

Miles of saltwater flats and fresh water, spring-fed rivers offer some of the best fishing in Florida. In fact, world record tarpon are consistently caught just off the Coast of Citrus County. Plenty of Cobia, red fish, sea trout and grouper as well as Large Mouth Bass, Brim, and Catfish navigate the waters of Citrus County. And there is wet and dry docking for your boat at the many surrounding marinas.

Golf, Golf and More Golf

Citrus County has also been called the “Golf Coast”, sporting a dozen area golf courses.
